ProFootballTalk this morning published a report from Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com stating that the Miami Dolphins have reached a deal with free agent defensive tackle Vaughn Martin.
According to ProFootballTalk's Darin Gantt, Martin "drew a solid amount of interest in the market, from both 3-4 and 4-3 teams." He played end (5-technique) in the Chargers' 3-4 scheme, but projects as an interior defender for the Dolphins.
The Jamaican-born Martin was drafted by the San Diego Chargers out of the University of Western Ontario in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. At 6-foot-4, 308 pounds, he's expected to fill the role of former Dolphins defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, who wasn't re-signed by the team this offseason.
