The Baltimore Ravens have been decimated by free agent defections this year. Six defensive starters are gone, including Dannell Ellerbe, who signed with the Miami Dolphins but was expected to be the Ravens' replacement for the now retired Ray Lewis. However, today's move with Elvis Dumervil has apparently buoyed expectations in Charm City.
"That's awesome," Ravens defensive end Arthur Jones said of the Dumervil acquisition, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. "It's like a dream team in the making. I can't wait until we all get together."
There it is. The dreaded "Dream Team" tag. Previously, that title had belonged to the Philadelphia Eagles when Vince Young declared them a dream team in 2011.
This offseason, it had been floated by the media a few times about the moves the Dolphins were making, including Ellerbe, fellow linebacker Philip Wheeler, wide receivers Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson, and tight end Dustin Keller.
But, apparently, the reigning Super Bowl champions would like to take that title. They can have it.
