The Miami Dolphins signed free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace and re-signed safety Chris Clemons with their first two moves of a hectic first day of free agency yesterday. After the ink officially hit the contract, Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland made the following statements about the two signings.

The Miami Dolphins took the 2013 NFL Free Agency period and went home yesterday. It was their game, and they didn't want to let anyone else play. The team signed wide receiver Mike Wallace and re-signed safety Chris Clemons, agreed to terms with linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Philip Wheeler, and released linebackers Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett.

After Wallace and Clemons officially put pen to paper and the contracts were signed, general manager Jeff Ireland released the following statements about each player:

Wallace:

"We are pleased to reach an agreement with Mike Wallace. He has a unique skill set which we believe will be a welcomed addition to our offense. We are looking forward to his contributions to the team."

Clemons:

"We are also happy to announce an extension with Chris. He has been a valuable contributor to the team the last four years, and we are glad he will remain a member of the Miami Dolphins."
