It makes so much god damn sense! First of all, on damn near every message board concerning him, Steeler fans are wishing us good luck with a guy that sucks. Sour grapes from fans almost always indicate they're upset that he's leaving. On a more real note though, he's what our offense has been missing since Mark "Super" Duper: A guy that can score on any given play with his ability to run right passed the safeties (a nod to Chris Chambers as well here). I love how Marshall plays, but he does essentially the same thing Bess does in terms of making plays over the middle (except Bess typically catches the ball...) and therefore wasn't the fit for this offense I see Mike Wallace as. Hartline is another guy that makes his money over the middle seeing as he's willing to take a hit and he has solid hands while lacking elite speed.
Enter Mike Wallace. All of a sudden the safeties aren't counting on constant slants and outs and have to actually play deep to defend the long ball. Consequently, Bess and Hartline (If we re-sign him) can actually get some god damn YAC because they won't have four guys converging on them every single time they catch the ball. The days of 8 men in the box constantly might finally end and give our running backs a little breathing room. We'll finally be able to exploit New England's horrendous Safety play!
I know I'm preaching to the choir with you guys, but I thought I'd formally raise my hand in support of Mike. Also, I'd like to hear some solid counters to this addition and reasoning behind signing alternatives like Jennings or Bowe.
