It's like people cower in the shadows, waiting for us to lose, in order to come in and write doomsday posts. Granted, this is my very first post on this site; I usually come for the insider news and fan opinions. But I had to speak up as I see a slew of people who were silent after the triumph over the Pats and then annoyingly bombastic after a crippling loss.
I'm just as disgusted with the effort today as anyone but from week to week the tone either goes from "Super Bowl bound!! First round bye!!" to "Worst team ever, fire everyone, Tannehill's not the guy." (Didn't mean to rhyme but it was pretty cool) I think it's important to maintain perspective and understand that Buffalo has unique talent at a position that exploits our biggest weakness. It's simply a terrible match-up. Luckily, if we're able to beat New York and have Cincinnati or San Diego take care of business, there will be no one in the playoffs that offers the kind of pass rush we saw in Buffalo today.
Ultimately, we still have a good shot at the playoffs and once in the tournament, anything can happen. We've beaten all three of our potential first round opponents and there's not a single flawless team in the AFC. It would be a much more productive and enjoyable dialogue if fans could generally maintain some perspective and not get swept up into the highs and lows of a standard NFL season. Some weeks they'll look like world beaters, some weeks they'll look like a College team, depending on the match-ups on the field. It's simply not fun to come onto this board after a loss and see familiar names writing "LOLOL totes going to lose to the Jets and finish third in the Division #Fireland" Those are the same people who said we're going to go 4-12 after the Bucs game and probably the same people talking first round bye last week. Reality is oftentimes somewhere in the middle and I'd like to see some more of that on this board.
Sorry to make my first post so critical. The frustration has been piling up a bit. I've really enjoyed reading different perspectives and I look forward to being more active on the site. Today was a tough but luckily the 4:00 games were good to us. Go Dolphins!
