Dolphins vs Bills first quarter recap: Buffalo leads 3-0

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Spor

The Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills have completed the first quarter of their Week 16 matchup. The Bills currently lead 3-0.

The Buffalo Bills have a 3-0 lead over the Miami Dolphins after the first period in Orchard Park, New York.

The game has been fairly sloppy from both teams, with the weather not helping anyone.  The freezing rain which, according to the forecast, was to hold off until near the end of the game, has already begun falling, and it's making the field slick.

The Bills punted on their first drive, a punt that traveled a grand total of 13 yards.  However, they were able to move the ball on the second possession, including a 57-yard run-and-catch from Robert Woods.  The Dolphins challenged that Woods stepped out of bounds after making the catch, but the call-on-the-field stood.  Bills kicker Dan Carpenter conected on a 45-yard field goal to give Buffalo the 3-0 lead.

The Dolphins have not been able to get the offense clicking.  They have three, three-and-outs on the day, with the other possession, Miami's second, saw the Dolphins pick up their only first down of the period, on a second-and-eight pass to Charles Clay.  Miami then had a delay of game on third down, before giving up their second sack of the day.

That sack brought the Dolphins' sack allowed total to 53 on the year, tying the team's single season record.  For the Bills, that was the 51st sack they have recorded, tying their franchise record.

The Bills currently have the ball and are driving again.
