As I saw Justin Tucker's kick fly through the uprights last night on 61 yard bomb of a field goal, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointment. If the Lions could only defeat the Ravens on Monday Night Football it would give us sole possession of the last playoff spot. A Ravens loss would put the Dolphins in the drivers seat for the postseason, win out and make the playoffs! Nothing would make me happier, the Dolphins in the playoffs for the first time in what seems like an eternity. Then I realized, despite of the Ravens victory and my disappointment the Dolphins control their own destiny. Win out, make the playoffs!!!
The Dolphins and Ravens are tied at 8-6, with the Dolphins currently being left out of playoff contention. With two games remaining the Ravens play New England and Cincinnati. A loss by the Ravens in either game would give the Dolphins the final spot. But what if the Ravens win out. They own the tiebreaker, we would both be 10-6, we would miss out on the play............wait a second. If the Ravens win out, they would be tied with the Bengals at 10-6 (Ravens are currently a game behind). Given the Ravens won their first game against Cincy, a second victory would give the Ravens the division crown. A Miami and Cincinnati tie at 10-6 would give the Dolphins the final playoff spot with a head to head tiebreaker (Miami defeated Cincinnati earlier in the season).
If the Dolphins win out, they'll make the playoffs! They control their own destiny.
