Cameron Wake named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

The NFL announced their Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Players of the Week today. Included on that list was Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake, who takes the AFC Defensive Player of the Week Award.

As any Miami Dolphins fan could have told you at the end of last Thursday's overtime win against the Cincinnati Bengals, Cameron Wake was deserving of recognition for his performance.  Today, the NFL announced that recognition, naming Wake the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Wake recorded five tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.  And, in case that was not enough, the third sack came in overtime, bringing down Cincinnati's Andy Dalton in the endzone for a game clinching, walk-off safety.

Wake was joined in the AFC recognitions by Cleveland Browns quarterback Jason Campbell (Offensive Player of the Week) and New York Jets kicker Nick Folk (Special Teams).  On the NFC side, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles' seven touchdown passes landed him the Offensive Player of the Week, while Chicago Bears defensive end She McClellin took the Defensive award and Seattle Seahawks punt returner Golden Tate was awarded for the Special Teams.

This is Wake's first time receiving the Player of the Week honors.  He's the first Dolphins player to receive the award since Week 5 of last season, when Randy Starks won it.
