Dolphins sign guard David Arkin from Cowboys

Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

The Miami Dolphins have suspended guard Richie Incognito and appear to not have the services of tackle Jonathan Martin for at least the next fee weeks. To help the offensive line, the team signed guard David Arkin off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad today.

As the Miami Dolphins see their offensive line depleted by the Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito situation, the team made a roster move today in an attempt to add some depth to the line.  The team has signed guard David Arkin off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad, according to a South Florida Sun Sentinel report from Omar Kelly.

Arkin was a fourth round draft pick for the Cowboys in 2011 and spent most of this season on the 53 man roster, but inactive on game days.  He was waived last week when the Cowboys needed to promote safety Jakar Hamilton to the active roster.

No corresponding roster move had been announced, though speculation is the team will put Martin on the Non-Football Injury list.  He could be activated at any time after being put on the list, but the Dolphins would not have to pay the second year player, and it would free a roster spot.  Miami could choose to put Martin on the NFI list, but then choose to continue paying him as well.

Miami's starting offensive line is expected to be Tyson Claboy at right tackle, John Jerry at right guard, Mike Pouncey at center, Nate Garner at left guard, and Bryant McKinnie at left tackle. The sixth offensive lineman on the active roster will be Will Yeatman, with the normal seventh slot among the 46 game day players going to either Danny Watkins or Dallas Thomas.  Arkin will probably be inactive on game day, but will serve as depth in case of any injuries.
