CRAZY RIGHT? I know, I know. He is by far our best defensive player, but he is 31 years old and turns 32 in January. Does he have 3-4 years left of dominance? Maybe. But why not trade him now while our defensive line is stacked? Throw Dion Jordan to the fire just like we did JT99! He is a playmaker! Move Starks back to DE where he was a probowler and have Jordan come off the edge with him in certain packages. Move Starks inside to spell Solai/Odrick, and have Jordan in as DE, especially on 3rd down passing situations! Get creative with our defense COYLE!
Obviously there must be a team who has a need at DE/OLB and must have equal value in return for Wake. How about Green Bay? If you were GB's GM, would having Mathews, Hawk, and Wake sound pretty intriguing? Do they have a good OL we could get and maybe a 3rd round draft pick? What about Tramon Williams or Sam Shields and a 4th?
What about San Francisco? How about Mike Iupati and a 4th rounder for Wake? Imagine Wake, Aldon Smith, Justin Smith, Willis and Bowman together for SF! Sounds good right? That would then leave us with Iupati, Pouncey, and Ingocgnito in the middle of our OL. Sounds pretty good to me if you put Jerry/Garner/Thomas (basically anyone else lol) at RT and bench Clabo, aka Columbo 2.0!
Again, this is just another way of thinking outside the box and trying to improve the team. YES, I UNDERSTAND how good and dominant Wake is, but it's not like he is 26 years old anymore. All I'm saying is there are options out there to improve the team, by actually trading our best player now while he has such value. I know... Crazy Right!?
P.S. PHINS UP!
