Roll tape: DeAndre Hopkins' performance against LSU in the 2012 Chick-Fil-A Bowl

Curious about all of the DeAndre Hopkins fuss on ThePhinsider? This video of Hopkins' domination of LSU on New Year's Eve should give you a pretty good idea of why he's head shred when it comes to the 2013 receiver class.

A couple of things to note before we check out Hopkins' tape against LSU:

  • Clemson dynamo wideout Sammy Watkins was knocked out of this game early with an ankle injury, freeing up the Tigers' secondary to focus most of its attention on Hopkins.
  • Notice Hopkins' physicality, as well as his ability as a downfield blocker. He appears to be incredibly difficult to jam at the line, and he's a master at putting his body between the ball and the defender.
  • YAC, YAC, YAC and more YAC. Hopkins' Chick-Fil-A Bowl tape could double as a how-to primer for West Coast offense receivers. He could still use a bit of polish as a route-runner, but that's not enough to disable the growing sentiment that Hopkins is tailor-made for the Miami Dolphins.
