Post Senior Bowl Mock

Now that the Senior Bowl is over, some players have given themselves a step up in the draft before they hit the Combine in late February. He's just a quick snapshot at my idea (as of now) for the Dolphins' offseason.

Reggie Bush- Some people say the Dolphins don't need Reggie and Miller can pick up the load, but if Reggie is willing to take a reasonable contact why not keep a great and reliable option that Tannehill is comfortable with?

Randy Starks- Starks has been nothing but awesome for the Dolphins, especially in the past two years. Pay the man and keep one of the best front sevens in the NFL together.

Brian Hartline- If Hartline will take #2 WR money he is worth it. He and Tannehill built some great chemistry this year. It would just be nice to see him in the end zone more than once.

Anthony Fasano- Some people want Fasano gone, but he is just a solid TE. He had 5 TD catches this year and has pretty good blocking ability, which no other Dolphins TE has.

Free Agency:

Greg Jennings (or Bowe or Wallace)- Miami will most likely go after one if not all of the potential big 3 WRs to try and court one to Miami. I think Jennings is just the most likely to end up in Miami at this point.

Jared Cook Jr.- I have liked Cook Jr. for a couple years now. He has always just fit the pass catching TE mold and that is exactly what Miami is looking for.

Derek Cox- With Sean Smith thinking he's a "playmaker" and wanting playmaker money, he will be replaced. Cox will serve as a good replacement. He has good man coverage and is probably as much of a "playmaker" as Smith, if not more.

Round 1: Jonathan Banks, CB, Mississippi State - Miami needs a good 1 and 2 CB tandem and Banks and Cox would look good with Marshall in the slot.

Round 2a: Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee - Hunter would not only bring a WR with speed to take the top off of defenses, but also hight and leaping ability. At 6'4" and being a former track and field high jumper it would be a good call for Miami. Also just adds some depth.

Round 2b: D.J. Fulker, OT, Alabama- Fulker is a big boy. He could be placed on the right side and Martin can be bumped to left for the absence of Jake Long. Fulker has a really good anchor due to his size and is a mauler in the run game.

Round 3a: Datone Jones, DE, UCLA- Some aren't too sure of Jones' true position, but he held his own during the Senior Bowl practices and game again top prospects like Fisher and Lane Johnson. He may just be situational at first but could fill the opposite end of Cam Wake.

Round 3b: Phillip Thomas, S, Fresno State- I'm not even sure Thomas will fall this far, but Miami would be fools not to pick him here. He is a ball hawk with 8 picks this year and who doesn't want that in their secondary? Another option here could be Cyprien from FIU.

Round 4: Robert Alford, CB/KR, Southeast Louisiana- A 95 yard kickoff, a pick on a two point conversion, and solid coverage on BCS prospects? That to me is worth a 4th round pick. He may start off as the 4th CB or lower on the depth chart, but he could work his way up if he keeps up the hard work he showed in the Senior Bowl practices.

Round 5: Omoregie Uzzi, OG, Georgia Tech- I think Uzzi could be a very underrated lineman in this draft. In the 5th round he will be good competition for John Jerry and my even take his spot.

Round 7a: Dustin Hopkins, K, Florida State- For some reason I haven't been sold on Carpenter lately but some camp competition wouldn't hurt.

Round 7b: Jordan Rodgers, QB, Vanderbilt- Delvin will probably be the back up to Tannehill this year, but it is always good to have a #3 guy.
