A look into our free agents

This season the dolphins have many free-agent starters that may or may not be resigned. Some are crucial to our team, some not so much, but I'm going to look into the statuses of our free agents.

Sean Smith: Unlikely to resign- Recent news came out this afternoon that Smith will likely reach free agency as we value him as a "good player" and he values himself as a "playmaker". (

Possible replacements: Aquib Talib, Keenan Lewis, Chris Houston, DRC, and Brent Grimes are all expected to reach free agency. There's a possibility that we sign one of these guys as well as draft a couple CB's.

Jake Long: Still a chance- It is looking a bit unlikely that Long will resign with the dolphins, however it is clear that we would really like to retain him. Although it has been reported that we "lowballed" Jake, it may be a good sign. It may mean that the dolphins just wanted a starting point as an offer. I really hope that we can keep him. But in case we can't resign him, I don't mind the idea of moving Martin to the left, and either signing or drafting a Right Tackle. (

Possible replacements (RT): Sebastian Vollmer, Will Beatty, Ryan Clady, or a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick

Brian Hartline: Could go either way- Hartline wants 5-6 million dollars, the dolphins would love to have him back, but we might not want to pay him that much. (

Possible replacements (#1 WR): Mike Wallace, Greg Jennings, Dwayne Bowe all supposed to hit the market. Possibility to draft Keenan Allen at 12, or trade down and draft DeAndre Hopkins, or Cordarrelle Patterson, 2nd round prospects such as Quinton Patton, Justin Hunter, Terrance Williams.

Reggie Bush: Could go either way- He will reportedly either sign a "team friendly" contract or he will walk. He likely won't need to be replaced, just need to add depth behind Miller and Thomas. (

Possible replacements (#2/#3 RB's): Peyton Hillis, and Kevin Smith are expected to hit the market or we could look for guys like Kenjon Barner, Andre Ellington, Michael Dyer, or Marcus Lattimore in rounds 4-7

Randy Starks: Likely to sign- the Phins desperately want to sign the pro-bowler and will likely sign. Here's an Idea, maybe we could find good value for either Paul Solai (best value for 3-4 teams in desperate for a NT) or Jared Odrick (He could get good value as a DT in 4-3 or a 5-technique DE in a 3-4, he was a first round pick) in a trade. (

Anthony Fasano: expected not to resign- to my surprise Fasano will likely walk. (

Possible Replacements: We are expected to replace him in-house, with Charles Clay, and Michael Egnew. We also might draft a TE in rounds 4-7, I like Brandon Ford as a sleeper.

Chris Clemons: Expected to resign- The Dolphins have reportedly shown interest in resigning Clemons, and I don't see any reason Clemons wouldn't want to resign, so I assume he resigns. However this doesn't necessarily mean he will be Miami's starter next year. We still may go for a big Safety free agent or draft one as the draft is deep at Safety this year. (
