My thoughts on the 2012 season. By:  FSUDolphan

As the 2012 season came to end with a disappointing loss to the Patriots, I was still happy with how the season played out. The so called experts though the Dolphins would win 2-4 games this year. The Dolphins won seven games, witch yours truly predicted. There is such a fine line in the NFL. Four games stand out in my mind. A missed kick vs the Jets. A failed stop for the defense against the Cardinals. A close loss to the Colts and the loss to the Bills. In each one of those losses exposed flaws that the Dolphins need to fix this offseason.

We won seven games with a rookie QB and first year head coach. I thought Tannehill showed great progress as the season went on. I would argue that Tannehill had a very good rookie season in relation to the talent that was around him. If you look at the rookie QB's they had better talent around them to be successful. I hope we resign Bush and add some WR's and I think the offense will take off.

The defense played OK. The front seven was good. But I cannot say the same for the secondary. The secondary gave up to many big plays. We need to get a shut down corner to play opposite Smith. I was a little disappointed in Coach Croyle because he had a Bengals secondary getting interceptions at a good clip. The Dolphins secondary could not get a good amount of interceptions. I think if the talent is improved in the offseason the turnovers will come.

I understand why Dolphins fans are upset with Ireland they feel that he has not improved the team. Getting a good QB in the first round is start in the right direction. I know people gave Ireland a hard time for trading Marshall. We got additional draft picks in this years draft. With five draft picks and plenty of cap space to sign free agents I think a lot of the Dolphins problems will be fixed. If Ireland does not handle this offseason correctly then I might jump on the fire Ireland bandwagon.

I feel that the Dolphins are going to make a big jump next season. All the way into the playoffs. That is my goal for the team as new season approaches. 2013 is the year the Dolphins snap there losing season streak and playoff streak. Call me a eternal optimist. Go Dolphins.
