The Miami Dolphins today announced they had signed linebacker Jonathan Freeny from the team's practice squad. Freeny spent all of the 2011 season on the Dolphins' practice squad, and was with the team throughout training camp and the preseason.

Freeny signed with the Dolphins originally in July of 2011 as an undrafted free agent from Rutgers. He played high school football at Coconut Creek High School in Broward County.

While at Rutgers, Freeny primarily played defensive end. In four years of college football, Freeny tallied 92 tackles, 20.5 for a loss, with 11 sacks, and one interception.

The Dolphins only had 52-players on their roster, giving them an open roster spot. Freeny's signing will not require any player be cut from the roster.

The team also announced that two players' have changed their numbers. Running back Lamar Miller will now wear number 26, while tackle Will Yeatman will now be 72.
