Cowboys at Giants NFL Kickoff Live Thread

Stay connected for news and updates

Yeah, it's in New York and not Dallas - but why not.

It's officially here. The 2012 NFL season kicks off tonight with the Dallas Cowboys at the New York Giants. The game will feature the raising of the Giants Super Bowl Championship banner before the start of the game.

This is the first Wednesday game for the NFL in since September 22, 1948, with the NFL moving the game from its now traditional Thursday night opening due to the Democratic National Convention and President Obama's speech tomorrow night.

Tonight's inactives:

Giants - CB Prince Amukamara, OT James Brewer, DT Marvin Austin, WR Jerrel Jernigan, RB Da'Rel Scott, DE Adewale Ojomo, G Mitch Petrus

Cowboys - S Matt Johnson, G David Arkin, TE Colin Cochart, DT Jay Ratliff, CB Mike Jenkins, S Danny McCray, LB Kyle Wilber

Maybe the most interesting move tonight is the fact that Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will be playing - maybe. Witten lacerated his spleen in the Cowboy's first preseason game and has not been able to play since. He was cleared earlier today, and is listed as active for tonight. It will be a major storyline to see how much he actually plays tonight.

Welcome back to football! Enjoy the game!
