The Miami Dolphins have placed free agent guard Artis Hicks on injured reserve. Hicks injured his neck originally against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this preseason. The Dolphins did not designate Hicks for the use of the new injured reserve rule allowing teams to bring one player back from IR per season.
Hicks injury has yet to be diagnosed, according to a series of tweets from Miami Herald reporter Adam Beasley. Hicks' neck continued to get worse, however, doctors have not been able to determine if it's a muscular issue, or if it is nerve-related., even after running a full slate of tests. Hicks is planning to get a second opinion.
It's not clear if Hicks' injury could be career threatening.
The Dolphins signed Ray Feinga, who was released in the team's final rounds of cuts, The Dolphins are expected to start John Jerry at right guard with Hicks out for the season.
