Last night, the Miami Dolphins established their 53-man roster. Today, with the waiver wire active, the 53-man roster is changing. We've had a live thread going all afternoon to track the roster transactions as they happen, but now it's time to take a look at the current state of the Dolphins' roster.
First thing to note is the 53-man roster is over 53-men right now. The Dolphins have claimed four players off of waivers, but only two roster cuts have been announced so far. In essence, the 53-man roster is currently at 55-players, with two still to be released.
Second, the team has not yet announced the eight-man practice squad. Two players who could have been placed on the "taxi" squad have been claimed off of waivers, with wide receiver B.J. Cunningham going to the Philadelphia Eagles while the New York Jets took defensive tackle Isaako Aaitui.
The current state of the 53 man roster is below, with additions marked with an asterisk, and cuts lined through,
Here is the 53-man roster as it stands right now:
Fullback (1): Jorvorskie Lane
TOTAL OFFENSIVE PLAYERS: 28
TOTAL DEFENSIVE PLAYERS: 22
Kicker (1): Dan Carpenter
Punter (1): Brandon Fields
Long Snapper (1): John Denney
TOTAL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYERS: 3
I will update this thread as more news comes in about the add and cuts the Dolphins make today.
