While all of the attention around the NFL has been on teams getting their rosters down to the 53-man roster limit and waiver claims, the NCAA college football season has officially started. And, if college football is being played, players are being scouted. Chris Steuber, who has worked with various media outlets, including TV and radio appearances, tracks which scouts can be confirmed at which games, as well as the possible players in those games the scouts are watching.
This weekend, the Miami Dolphins are confirmed to be at two games, one yesterday and one tomorrow. Last night. the Dolphins scouts were at the Villanova at Temple game. Steuber writes the game included possible Temple draft targets center Sean Boyle, running back Matt Brown, quarterback Chris Coyer (junior), defensive end Marcus Green, running back Montel Harris, cornerback Maurice Hones, kicker Brandon McManus, tackle Martin Wallace, and defensive end John Youboty. On the Villanova side, targets could include defensive tackle Antoine Lewis (junior) and wide receiver Norman White.
Joining the Dolphins representative at the game were scouts from the Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, and the Tennessee Titans.
Tomorrow, the Dolphins will scout the SMU at Baylor game, along with the Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
They will be watching Baylor prospects cornerback Chance Casey, safety Ahmad Dixon (junior), defensive end Tevin Elliott (junior), quarterback Nick Florence, cornerback Demeti Goodson, kicker Aaron Jones (junior), tackle Cameron Kaufhold, cornerback K.J. Morton (junior), tight end Jordan Najvar (junior), wide receiver Tevin Reese (junior), offensive lineman Cyril Richardson (junior), running back Jarred Salubi, wide receiver Lanear Sampson, running back Lache Seastrunk (redshirt sophomore), center Ivory Wade, and wide receuver Terrance Williams.
Southern Methodist provides possible draft targets linebacker Ja'Gared Davis, quarterback Garrett Gilbert (junior), defensive end Margus Hunt, wide reciever Darius Johnson, fullback Zach Line, linebacker Taylor Reed, and safety Ryan Smith.
Of course, like Steuber writes, these are just the confirmed presence of scouts. The Dolphins could have people in other games, but for Week 1 of the college football season, Miami will hit at least two games.
