The Miami Dolphins held their only night practice of the 2012 training camp last night. Here are some quick hits from the workout.
Before we get to the Tweets, I apologize for it very heavily relying on one source. Omar Kelly seemed to be the only beat writer fully tweeting from the practice, so he's the only one I could pull quick hits from:
This is honestly the best crowd the Dolphins have had at camp.

#Dolphins practice jersey will have a Doctors Hospital patchow.ly/i/POVR
IF you were at today's scrimmage-like practice then you saw exactly why David Garrard is Miami's starting QB. He KILLS.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 9, 2012
Ryan Tannehill's got a pretty arm. Matt Moore can keep you in games. But David Garrard can put them away, & bring you back to win them.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 9, 2012
David Garrard is playing with a HUGE chip on his shoulders and it reminds me so much of Chad Pennington in '08. You just believe.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 9, 2012
The accuracy you see from all 3 QBs - back shoulder, leading, fly routes - is no question better than most former Dolphins starters.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
Pat Devlin is the QB of the day. He looks like a completely different quarterback compared to last year.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 9, 2012
Had a chance to size Jerome Messam up and he's the biggest fullback I've ever seen. He's listed at 6-4, 250 and looks bigger.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
Jerome Messam made two nice runs today that make me pay attention.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 9, 2012
Vontae Davis and Sean Smith are the starting boundary CBs during team drills today, & Richard Marshall is the nickel.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
For the record, I suspect Vontae Davis is battling hamstring issues again. Saw him pull vs. Gates.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 9, 2012
For what it's worth, Vontae was making plays tonight. Not worried.
— Jesse Agler (@finsjesse) August 9, 2012
Jared Odrick doesn't appear to be practicing today and undrafted rookie DE Derrick Shelby is the starter.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
Olivier Vernon just stuffed the run for a loss. He's very stout against the run. Better than advertised.

Practice update from
— Ben Volin (@BenVolinPBP) August 9, 2012@bbiggane: Jared Odrick sat out with an undisclosed injury, and Nate Garner got in a tussle with Kevin Burnett
Lamar Miller is getting a lot of run today in this scrimmage like situation.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
Clyde Gates is working with the receivers again today. He's paired with Roberto Wallace.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
I believe Legedu Naanee has been pulled out of special teams work. That's when you know a guy has STATUS.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
Chad Johnson, who didn't do interviewsin New England but said he was going to enjoy new freedom in Miami, today said he's not talking.
— Armando Salguero (@ArmandoSalguero) August 8, 2012
Offensive guard Ray Feinga hasn't been here for three days. I believe he's suffered an injury. I haven't nailed it down yet.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) August 8, 2012
I don't think I can put into words how horrible Jonathan Martin's haircut is.
