Irelands second chance.

This is Irelands first time building the Miami Dolphins. Like it or not he is here into next season at least. The team showed they had talent the second half of last year. What they were really lacking was a coach and a top QB. It appears from a fans perspective Ross likes Ireland enough to give him a chance to start this thing over without Big Bill putting his fingerprints all over this team. Sparano was a Parcells guy and Henne was a Parcells pick. Anyone who thinks that Parcells did not have final say over this team is just as foolish as the Cowboys for letting Ireland come over with Parcells assurance that he was gonna be the man in charge. Parcells wanted to work verry little make the decisions on the hires, Draft day and free agents. That way if they succeeded Bill could take the credit but since they were failing Big Bill took off to the golf course. and for Ross to keep Ireland and let him tear this thing apart and start over he must have felt the same way. Maybe it was Ireland that really wanted to replace Sporano last year and Ross was on the fence. Nobody really knows what was really going on behind the scenes and if there were several different opinions in that front office with regards to orginzational moves and Ireland kept getting overruled but in hindsight he was correct then it makes sense that Ross gave him the keys and a chance to make things work. I say this because Ross seems to have alot of faith in him. Lets face it Ross did not make all his money by being a idiot and he did not become one overnight. He also was not succesful by putting morons in charge. It might have just taken him a couple of years to figure out this business.

Changing the philosphy of the team to faster players, moving to a west coast offense, Trading Davis for a second round pick and all the other changes they have made is not the actions of a man that thinks his job hinges on this season. Like him or not Ross must. So far Tannehill looks like a very solid pick (He should have been 6-6 with first and goal at the 1 in Dallas on that first drive) and Philbin looks like he has the passion and the brains to be a good coach(and I think he will be)

I myself like what he has done. If Tannehill has a decent season and Joe can coach then Miami will finish this season in the middle of the pack then Ireland is gonna have a chance to continue shaping this Roster for another year or 2 at least. and with 5 picks in the top 90 next year, the locker room cleaned, A good HC and QB of the future I will take that all day.

If you really want Ireland fired you are gonna have to hope Philbin is the next Cam Cameron and Tannehill plays like David Carr. Lets not forget this is preseason as well if we are basing our predictions and hate for Ireland on a 0-4 start then you could always go cheer on Buffalo who has looked worse then Miami in the second year of there plan, the Jets who have also looked worse and have the offensive genius running the O or the Pats who have looked anything but good this preseason. You could even become a Colts fan who has traded away 3 of there 7 picks in next years draft for a up and down 2nd string corner and a average WR in a year they will not sniff 8 wins. I am not saying Miami is as good as New England but I think they are just as good as the Bills and the Jets for this upcoming year and set up much better for the years to come.
