Now, the realist in me knows that accomplishing all I am about to say in the next week and a half is absolutely preposterous. Hence the tongue in cheek title. But I have been running numbers since Fridays game. Looking for solutions around the league. Looking at capspace solutions etc.
Marquis trade would be to trade Reggie Bush and probably a 5th for Wallace over in Pitt. We are seemingly stacked at RB and Wallace is still holding out. He doesn't want to play in Pittsburgh anymore. He could be pricey....so you have to find money. We trade other mid-level guys for mid-level picks.
Current Capspace- (After Vontae and Bush) 7.645
Tony McDaniels, sorry bro, we are stacked at D-line and you're just here to give the big man (Soliai) breaks. Well we paid him a big boy contract and yours is too inflated for what you do. Randall has been doing well and that isn't a good sign. Plus Odrick can slip inside anyway. I looked around and Denver has very little in way of DT's I think we should look to take a 3-5 pick from them. It saves us 3 mil.
There is 10.675 mill
Cut Lyndon Mutha and Artis Hicks 1.9 and 1.25 Mil respectively. Let Samuda(UDFA), Garner, and Burden(UDFA) apparently coming along at G/T backup a stout looking Oline.
Now we are at 13.795 mil in cap space.
Say we get Wallace to sign a 3 year deal, this year being the lowest an 8 mill cap hit this year. including a signing bonus etc.
That means we have 5.795 left in cap space.
We could turn around and try and trade with either GB or SF
James Jones and Michael Crabtree are two that I can see us going for.
We could try and trade San Fran a 3,4 for Crabtree. (Marshall 3, and McDaniels estimated pick). That would leave us with a 1, 2,2,3,4,conditional 6th, 6, 7th
We might also be able to try and trade for James Jones out of GB. I think Philbin/Ireland will try and turn around and give GB exactly what they got for Davis. Leaving us in my scenario with 1,2,3,3,4,4,6,7
We could sign either one of those guys for around 4 million. Leaving us with about 1.79 mil in capspace.
WR-Wallace, Jones/Crabtree, Bess, Hartline, Puitt, Gates/Mathews/Fuller (depends heavily on next week)
Cutting Wallace, Naanee, Moore saves us 1.62mil leaving us back to a respectable 3.41mil capspace, more than what we started with.
Notice, I haven't taken money out for Garrard yet? Yeah it is on purpose. If we can sign Devlin to the PS squad and keep Garrard on the team long enough for him to get healthy we may have trade value in Matt Moore. I have faith we can nab a decent 4th CB off the waiver. My speculation here would be for a SS, or picks to go out and get us a SS. I am looking at you KC and Ariz. If something happens in the first couple of weeks to and Arizona or KC starter then we have to offer up Moore on a silver platter. Hopefully we can rip someone off and get another 2nd for him. A pick we could definitely use next year. 1, 2,2,3,3,4,4,6,7 and a ton of money comes off the books. We will have to resign a few guys. Long and Bess come to mind. But I can see us go,
1CB/S
2CB./S (whichever one we don't get above)
2 WR
3 MLB
3 OT
4 OG
4 OLB
The rest don't really matter too much for me maybe some back up DT's
THAT IS ALL A HUGE IF SCENARIO NOT TOO BE TAKEN TOO SERIOUSLY!!!!
