The August approval ratings don't look good for Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland (left) nor owner Stephen Ross (center). Head coach Joe Philbin (right) is still holding above 80%.
Over the last week, the Phinsider Community has conducted the monthly approval ratings votes for the top three executives within the Miami Dolphins organization. We are finally in the preseason, and able to start reacting based on the on the field activity from the Dolphins.
Stephen Ross and Jeff Ireland each saw their votes total drop, while Joe Philbin's total number of votes cast went from 577 in July to 1028 in August.
Time to take a look at the results:
|Person||July Approval||August Approval||Change|
The interesting thing to note in this process is when these polls were taken. The Dolphins looked lethargic in their contest Friday night, with Stephen Ross' vote taken place on Saturday and Jeff Ireland's on Sunday. The news that the Dolphins had named rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill the starting quarterback broke on Monday, pushing head coach Joe Philbin's vote back a day, with it happening on Tuesday.
Could the results above be based on the bad feelings after the game, with Philbin getting the benefit of the Tannehill announcement?
It really is amazing the giant fall both Ross and Ireland suffered with the preseason starting. Have the two preseason games already spun the fan base into a hatred for the executives again? Or, are we seeing the increase in troll traffic change the results?
Whatever the causes, those are the changes, and we will watch what happens to each of them as the season goes along. And, at least we are taking the polls with actual football taking place.
