UPDATE: Union Rags won the 144th Belmont Stakes. Paynter second, Atigun third.
Obviously, tonight's Belmont Stakes lost some of its luster this week with the news that I'll Have Another, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, would not be racing tonight due to a swollen ligament in his foot. With that news, any shot of having the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978 vanished.
The race should still be a good one, despite the anticlimactic lack of I'll Have Another. Post time is 6:40pm EDT, televised on NBC.
