Wide receiver Chad Ochocinco signed with his hometown Miami Dolphins on Monday.
Monday night, it was announced the Miami Dolphins had signed free agent wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. Ochocinco appeared in 15 games with New England, starting three, catching just 15 passes for 276 yards with 1 touchdown. He also caught one pass in the Super Bowl for 21 yards.
The Patriots released Ochocinco last week. Rumors immediately began circulating that the Dolphins were the most likely landing place for the former Chad Johnson. The team was thought to be looking for a veteran wide receiver while Ochocinco in a Miami native and had expressed a desire to return home. Those interested rumors were confirmed over the weekend when the team scheduled a workout for Ochocinco.
Monday after the team's OTA practice, head coach Joe Philbin admitted the team had "recently" worked out Ochocinco, but would not elaborate further. Later Monday night, new broke (initially from Ochocinco's own OCNN network) that the team had signed the Miami Beach High School alumnus.
