Did the Miami Dolphins just find their new Z receiver with this guy?
The Miami Dolphins finally draft a wide receiver in the sixth round. Cunningham is a 6'1" 211 lb WR from Michigan State. He ran a 4.56 forty time and is a physical receiver who will fight for the ball. He has small, but strong hands and has good body control. He can adjust to passes and is a savvy route runner. He isn't overly explosive and will not be considered a deep threat as most fans would think. He fits into what coach Philbin likes to do as a physical guy who can catch those short passes and gets yards after the catch.
THIS SEASON:
Cunningham will come onto the roster and fight to start at the Z receiver position. He fits the type of WR that Philbin likes which is a physical WR who can run the slant routes, beat press coverage and pick up first downs. His main competition currently on the roster for that position will be Naanee and Roberto Wallace.
