I've noticed a lot of negativity from Dolphin fans regarding the potential 8th overall pick from Texas A&M. At first I too was very skeptical. Don't we need O-line help? Wouldn't a pass rusher or RT a lot safer a pick? Yeah they probably would be a safer pick but let's look at the facts here. Unless you end up getting very lucky you are not going to get a franchise QB outside of the first round 90% of the time (see chart from few days ago on phinsider). For years since Dan, us Dolphin fans have been watching 2nd round QB after washed up Free agent come to Miami and disapoint. Then we watched this offseason as we missed out on QB after QB. It is so frustrating that one could understand why the Dolphins may be willing to reach here for a QB who is anything but a sure thing. However, the way I see it no one knows Tannehill and his abilities better than Sherman. Philbin is a master at developing a young QB who sit out for a year or so and from all the analysis Tannehill's arm strength and accuracy are not areas of worry. He lacks experience. But the kid is a freakin football player, he played WR just so he could get on the field because he loved the game so much. He came in halfway though a season and in 1.5 years threw 42 TD's in a pro style offense. Yeah he's not polished but as a Dolphin fan I think it is time to take a QB in the first round like every other playoff team has figured out. He has incredible work ethic and after playing wideout he knows exactly where they want the ball delivered, that is an invaluable skill. Tannehill at #8 is my call, and I hope the Phin front office makes the same decision because it will be one that won't be regreted.
