Lets Beat a Dead Horse

All we hear about on the Phinsider nowadays are offseason scenarios, specifically talking about QB.

I am here to continue to beat this into the ground.

In my mind, there are three scenarios which will make me happy this offseason; each of which involve us getting different QB.

Robert Griffin III Scenario

Although this scenario is the least realistic and the one which fills the least positions, it is my personal favorite.

This scenario will be generated assuming we trade this year's first round pick, this year's third round pick, this year's fifth round pick, and next year's first round pick for St. Louis' 2nd overall pick.

If we indeed do this, we will be paying much less than what we would for Peyton Manning or Matt Flynn, giving us more room to sign free agents. We would have few draft picks, though.

Peyton Manning Scenario

Over the last couple weeks, I have been warming up to the idea of signing Peyton Manning. At first, his health issues really concerned me, but he already seems to be close to healthy, and there are months until the start of the season so I think he'll be just fine for the start of the season.

Picking up Peyton Manning allows us to have a premiere QB for presumably the next 2 or 3 years, but does not solve our long term QB issue. Thankfully, the draft is deep this year and we should be able to pick up Ryan Tannehill or Kirk Cousins in the second round. Both of these quarterbacks have a lot of promise, and after sitting behind Peyton Manning for a couple of years, either of them should be very good players. In doing this, we would be trying to have our own version of the Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers situation.

This scenario would allow us to address most other positions this offseason, and can be considered the most balanced scenario of the three because we address the QB position of the future, get the QB who will allow us to win now, and be able to fix most position of need.

Matt Flynn Scenario

This scenario is, in my opinion, the worst of the three, even though it allows us to get all the players we need.

If we sign Matt Flynn, I personally would support it because our head coach worked with him for years in Green Bay. Philbin knows Flynn well and I trust his judgement on him. Us signing Matt would also allow us to not only have every pick we currently have, but it would also not tie us up to draft another QB for the future (like the Manning scenario) in the second round. That is why I say it allows us to get all the players we need.

Why I prefer Griffin over Manning over Flynn

I know that the best QB of the three is Manning and that the scenario that allows us to make the most roster changes is the Flynn scenario, but I feel like if we draft RGIII, we will have a QB that will make this offense one to be reckoned with. Griffin III is a smart, accurate QB who also has a strong arm. He is very fast, but is still a pocket passer. I fell in love with him this year and I really want to see him in a Dolphins uniform.

Also, I know I mentioned above that I trust Joe Philbin's judgement on Matt Flynn. This is true but even if we do get him, I still feel like RG3 gives us the best chance to win now and in the future without drafting 2 QBs.

One last thing

Like I said earlier, I would be happy with any of these three approaches to the offseason. I did say I would be more happy with some over others, but if any of these were to occur, I would be satisfied.

Also, please vote in the poll and describe your feelings below. I am curious to see if you guys are in agreement with me...
