According to current NFL trends, the Miami Dolphins really need a tight end of Coby Fleener's caliber.
For NFL draft prospects, the Combine giveth and the Combine taketh away. Yet, this mega-event can an effective tool to help fans get a sense of who their favorite team should target in late April. Dolphins fans who went into last weekend thinking Iowa's Riley Reiff had Miami written all over him maybe came away thinking the burly Hawkeye technician would be a better fit elsewhere. Ditto for Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen, who looked flat and very unimpressive during running drills.
Instead of one-time draft crushes like Reiff and Allen, Dolphins fans might now be focused on buzz-worthy prospects like USC defensive end Nick Perry, Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith, Memphis defensive tackle Dontari Poe, Stanford tight end Coby Fleener or Georgia offensive tackle/guard Cordy Glenn. Maybe some of you are standing pat on the bandwagon for South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram (despite his T-Rex arms) or North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples (despite his "play when I want to" attitude). Hey, maybe you're one of the fans who believe Robert Griffin III will be wearing Clyde Gates' number in Miami next season.
