Manning, Marshall and the Myriad of Miami Madness

Yesterday, as everyone already knows we traded our best WR. Arguably our best player, though I am no sold on that (looking at you Jake Long). That being said, I too was more than disappointed in the value we received for him. Now on the berth of breaking news about his involvement in yet another violent incident I am understanding the reasoning for such a low value. True, the possibility of trading Marshall had been talked about for weeks (according to insiders). But there may be more than one reason the trade occurred so quickly.

Which brings me to Peyton Manning. We all had our hopes and our misgivings about this team signing the future HoF quaterback. Peyton is in win now mode, but are the Dolphins? A lot has been made of the "QB away from contenders" statement. But is that true with an entirely new coaching staff? Don't get me wrong I don't believe for one second that Tony S. was a good coach and I was happy that we let him go. But does a first time HC and his new staff want to put their success and jobs in the hands of Manning. Cause let's face it, Manning will want things done Manning's way. And to be honest with myself if I am Peyton the Broncos are my ticket. Elway is going to hand him the keys to building. They revamped their offense to suit Tim Tebow and I am sure they will do the same for Peyton Manning. If the Broncos can make a run into the playoff with Tebow at the Helm then they are legit competitors for a SB with Peyton driving the bus. Not to mention how much Elway just @loves@ Tebow.

With that in mind, did the Dolphins really make such a huge mistake? Marshall is; a diva, not a team player, borderline personality disorder, frequently involved in off the field violent confrontations. Now with a possible suspension hanging over his head and a new coaching staff in place as well as what looks like no Peyton Manning it does not surprise me we traded him or got for him what we got.

I hate to say it but it looks like we are in rebuilding mode ladies and gentlemen.

So, lets look at the what can happen now scenario.

Flynn is obviously on our radar and we may be in hot pursuit as we speak. But who will he throw to one may ask...Well I like Robinson who comes prepackaged with an awesome nickname , Robin Hood, and I really like Mario Manningham. If we can acquire these three and Winston I will be happy going into the draft. We can trade back, pick up Nick Perry at DE, play our cards right and maybe select Fleener as well and use those extra picks in the third on some more weapons and protection.

If you would have asked me a week ago if this was something I wanted to see I would have scoffed and told you to get out of here. But in light of the recent and unfolding events, I think this may just be where we are headed. It may not pan out this year, it may not pan out all but hope remains.

And as a Dolphins fan of 20 years, all I can do is hope.
