Peyton Manning......RG3........Ryan Tannehill.......Matt Flynn......Matt Moore?! errr
These are the names that are constantly being blogged about locally as options at QB for your QB-less Miami Dolphins. Half of this list is now pretty much off the board and what ever young talent that's left (Tannehill, Flynn) is unproven and are gambles. The latter on the list (errr) just isn't a franchise quarterback. Sure, he helped us win a few games last year. Sure, his TD/INT ratio was 16/9. Sure, he has a good deep pass and good chemistry with Brandon Marshall......but let's face it, the guy IS NOT a franchise quarterback and just can't get us in the end-zone as often as it takes to win in the present day NFL. Not to mention lack of "touch" on short passes and dump-offs and his very poor 4th quarter QB rating. Think about it....we have one of the leagues top 3rd down/slot receiver in Devon Bess and he was no where to be found last year after Chad Henne went down. This argument is to decapitate the notion among some Phin fans that Matt Moore is not the answer beyond a suitable back-up quarterback.
Enough jibber-jabber. Now on to the main point............Drew Brees.
There are literally only a handful of individual players in the NFL who can get your team a Super Bowl. Obviously they all play the most important position in professional sports, an NFL quarterback. When one of these "players" becomes available or could be had for a price, one must truly, for the betterment of your franchise, look into adding them to your squad....one way or another! Mr. Brees is currently unhappy about the franchise tag that has been placed upon him and feels disrespected by the Saints organization. This should prompt Jeff Ireland and Stephen Ross to investigate this matter and look for the opportunity to get this guy. What's a franchise-tag worth? 1st & 3rd round picks? A large unmatchable contract offer? DO IT! AND DO IT NOW! We hear Ross likes the superstar face and is willing to open up his wallet? PROVE IT! AND PROVE IT NOW! Roll out your 'Orange Carpet for this guy. Give us Dolfans a reason to spend our hard earned money to support your team and pay your ridiculous parking & concession prices. Give us a reason to have hope for this hopeless franchise without going out and drafting a offensive tackle again. Stop applying coats of mediocrity upon our once beloved team. This historic Dolphin bloodline is quickly thinning and must be reinforced.
Make the Miami Dolphins a respectable franchise again, Mr. Ross. Shows us your intestinal fortitude!
