If we were to win the Manning sweepsteeks it would mean we are trying to win now. Most of use think Manning has 3 maybe 4 years left. Were not looking for him to be here for the next decade or so. That being said why not add so of his former teammates? I have 3 in mind. Reggie Wayne,Jeff Saturday and Dallas Clark. I know most of you are going saw they're old(all 3 are over 30),but they would be an upgrade to what already have on our roster.
Reggie Wayne- We all know about Wayne. Reggie has been Peytons go to guy since Marvin Harrison retired. He may be getting older, but he put up better numbers ten any receivers on our team not named Marshall. Reggie had posted 7 straight 1000+ season before last year. Wayne still had 960 yards with a number of QB's not named Manning. Hey I like the Monster and the Magician as our starting tandem, but with the addition of Wayne the Phins would have 2 number 1's( you can't have 2 number 1's,because that's 11) at WR forming 1 of the best tandems in league. Both Marshall and Wayne have 3 seasons with at least 100 catches in the last 5 seasons, Wayne would start opposite Marshall moving Hartline to number 4. I think best is one of the best slot receivers in the game.
Jeff Saturday-Most of you would say we don't need a C. Our weakness was at RG and RT. Also we just used last year 1st round pick on Pouncey. True, but by adding Saturday we upgrade both guard positions. Pouncey would play LG and can also be tutored by Saturday at C and Incognito can play RG his natural position. Saturday would also make the calls for the line and he's been Manning C for over a decade. The O-line is instanly upgraded. All we would need is a RT. Murtha or Jerry might fit the bill. If not we could draft a RT.
Dallas Clark- The only problem I have with Clark is he missed 16 games the last 2 seasons. If Clark is healthy he could be the seam treat TE we've been looking for since Keith Jackson. I can still see him running for a TD on the 1st play from scrimmage the last time we face the Colts on Monday night. I still would take a TE in the draft.
With the addition of these 3 players Mannings transition to Miami would be that much easier. I'm all about the youth movement. but we're in a win now mode and we should be able to get a few good year out all 3. This offense could use some veteran leadership. They all have rings and have been in 2 Superbowls since 06. Now I only want them if we get Manning. If we don't get Peyton I don't think I want any. Maybe Reggie or a healthy Clark,
This was supposed to be a fanshot, I guess I got carried away.
