1. I know draft value charts aren't anything more than a very rough guideline, but... good lord.
#2 overall pick:
#6 overall pick, #38 overall pick, average 1st round pick, average 1st round pick:
Given that I doubt RGIII is expected to make them contenders as a rookie, that disparity could get even worse very quickly.
2. What would the Dolphins have had to give up to beat that deal? Three firsts and two seconds at the very least, I would guess. Probably more, given that I have to assume the Dolphins with RGIII would be expected to have worse draft picks next year than the Redskins.
I doubt the Dolphins were even at the table after hearing that offer.
3. I have no idea what's going to happen or even how it would happen if the Rams were penalized draft picks for the bounty scandal. Would they lose their original pick, thus invalidating the trade? Or would the lost picks be next years?
I know it's ludicrous, but can you imagine if BOTH the Rams and Redskins lost their picks in this years first round? That would measure about an 8.5 on the draft shake up Richter scale.
I think the Vikings' heads would pop off like a champagne cork.
At any rate, I love me some Luck and GIII, but I am glad the Dolphins didn't try to outbid that offer.
