One Colt might be coming to Miami but is it who you think it is?
The Dolphins have reportedly "told people they like" free agent DE Robert Mathis. The Fins' primary defensive need is left end, the position Mathis played in Indianapolis. If the Dolphins want to play a hybrid 4-3/3-4, Mathis has the size (6'2/245) and athleticism to excel with his hand up. The fit makes a ton of sense on paper. Mathis could be a dynamic bookend for RE Cameron Wake.

Cool!
Miami's Superstars: Reggie Bush, Brandon Marshall, Jake Long, Mike Pouncey, Karlos Dansby, Cameron Wake, Vontae Davis and Sean Smith (just wait), Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mike Stanton, Gaby Sanchez, Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson, Heath Bell, Mark Buehrle, Jose Reyes, Tomas Fleischmann, Stephen Weiss, Jose Theodore, and Chris Versteeg. :)
Isn't he pretty old now?

He is 30, getting quite old as defensive linemen go. 1-3 year stop-gap at best IMO
But he had 9.5 sacks on the season and 3 forced fumbles…and the colts royally sucked last year.
Can we just wheel Shula onto the field at the start of ever game being pushed by one of the Miami Cheerleaders? Talk about mixing fear and distraction...

30 isn't that bad
I was thinking he was like 32-35

He's about a year older
Wake just turned 30, but Mathis will turn 31 in a few weeks.

I wouldnt mind Pierre Garcon, I would prefer Manningham, but Garcon would be good...

Mathis
I don’t think Miami has the cap space to sign Mathis and Flynn. Miami would be better off drafting a DE.
Mathis is too old to get a ridiculous contract.
Whatever we pay him would be reasonable. I’m hearing we’ll have anywhere between 14 and 20 million in cap space at this point. I hope we’re not giving either Mathis or Flynn a salary above 8-10 million a year.

Surprisingly enough, Miami could probably get away with signing both.
Especially if they release Bell.

Unless they get a healthy Peyton manning
I don’t see where this move would make sense because he will 31 and will be a declining player. Unless we get Manning, we are a rebuilding team who needs help in a lot of areas.
Go Heat and Dolphins

We need a speed rusher who is familar with a base 4-3 defense
Mathis fits all those requirements and more. We are rebulding to a point, it doesn’t have to be a total rebulid however, the Phins do have some key pieces on D that can florish in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense. Dolphins are 100% drafting a pass rushing DE in one of the first 3 rounds this year you can bet on that.
