Super Bowl Reactions: Apparently Gisele Bundchen Doesn't Like Tom Brady's Receivers

Okay, so this is not usually something I would put up on the Phinsider. It's loosely football related, and it's from the Super Bowl, but it's more gossip type stuff than anything else, but it's mentionable today simply because I find it funny. Apparently, after the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants last night in Super Bowl XLVI, Mrs. Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, did not appreciate the ridicule some Giants fans were yelling as she left.

Continue reading to see the video and read her comment.

Star-divide

She turned to her friends and said, "You (have) to catch the ball when you're supposed to catch the ball. My husband cannot (bleeping) throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."

So, apparently, Bundchen is not a fan of the league's leader in receptions, a four time Pro Bowler, two time First Team All Pro in Wes Welker. A guy whose low in receptions since leaving the Miami Dolphins for the Patriots, is 86 in 2010. That's his low. He hasn't been below 111 any other year.

Ridiculous.

I guess the safety was Rob Gronkowski's fault. Or maybe Deion Branch should have somehow teleported to where that ball was landing.

Look, the receivers screwed up - like Welker dropping the ball when he was wide open - but so did Brady. I know Bundchen was frustrated, but way to throw your husband's wide outs under the bus. I mean, Welker is a slot receiver Bill Belichick is using as a #1 wide receiver. Gronkowski is out there trying to make plays despite a severely sprained ankle that is probably going to require surgery.

Maybe, just maybe, it was the entire Patriots team - coaches, players, and the Golden Boy - and not just the receivers.

I heard she asked everyone to pray for her husband before the Super Bowl..

I prayed for him… that he would lose…

We had [Brady] down… but we didn’t kick him. We helped him up and gave him a PowerPuff Girls band-aid for his knee. What exactly did you expect would happen when we did that?

P.S. if her husband had taken his time and made a good pass...

Maybe Welker would have caught it… again… hitting a WR in the hands does not mean it was a good throw… It means Welker was an acrobat to be able to put his hands on that ball.

But Brady was afraid of the pain that was coming his way, and I don’t really blame him for that… I just think we see what makes him have a bad game. We already knew this from when we sucked every year, but beat the Super Bowl champs because we had a good pass rush(Jason Taylor) who always came up big against Brady and got in his head.

did he not do a 180 to be able to put his hands on that ball?

Actually I think it was almost like a 270 by the time he hit the ground.

Do not believe for a moment

that he threw that ball there because he was afraid of the safety that was coming over… I have seen him thread that pass to Welker in stride 1000 times and it is always for a big gain. When you throw it behind him, even if he does catch the ball he doesn’t go very far after he catches it.

That's what the commentators said during the game.

That Welker catches that ball 100 out of 100 times. But he dropped it last night.

oh... gotcha... they had to say something ...

They couldn’t say anything bad about Brady because I think there is some clause built into their contract about it … they had to come up with something .. .and throwing Welker under the bus wasn’t exactly right…

oh ... lol...

If he threw a more catchable ball… he probably would have caught it 100 out of 100 times… but you don’t expect they will talk bad about Brady … do you? he is the NFL practically…. ask Gruden… I think he is contractually obligated to provide certain favors to him when Giselle is out of town or something…

those announcers were all up on bradys legs praising him all game. They didnt even say anything about it being intentional grounding till way after the flag was thrown, was pretty obvious i thought

Say this.......

Welker catches the ball and takes a vicious shot to head, I bet Kenny Phillips would be willing to take taht fine after the game. Also the one Deon was supposed to catch,Collingsworth said he should’ve sat down in that area" why sit there when Webster could deliver a shot and Phillips once again barelling down. Not many players will make catch getting sandwiched between two players at full speed while in the act of falling on your ass.

I remember even the great Dan Marino had some bad games...

They were usually against a really good defense that exploited his O-line and beat on him… Physical pain is the best way to shut down a franchise QB….

Bad pass to Welker

Bad pass to Branch on the sidelines, terrible pass to Gronk (intercepted)…I understand Gisele is mad about the loss, but this had to be said 1 on 1 with Brady, not the media.

How about a bad pass to .... ???? that resulted in a safety...

Like I said before … just because that pass rush didn’t get to Brady, doesn’t mean they “idn’t get to Brady”. I think there was a reason Giselle was asking for prayer for her husband, and it was probably because she saw all the sleep he was losing thinking about JPP, Tuck, and Osi coming after him… and he played that way all game, rushing throws…. he doesn’t have bad games like that very often… and it is always against a good defense that gets after him.

So the wife of the SuperBowl losing quarterback defends her husband....

as a result of being publically mocked by New York fans. A comment to a friend, not actually to the fans themselves, ends up in the media….

We attach weight to this?

All this proves is that they are still early enough in their relationship that she cares enough to defend him. My wife cheered for New England only because I was cheering for the Giants.

I'm not one to defend a super model or a Patriot player...

but she was being heckled. And that’s not really cool to heckle a player’s wife. Plus she spoke out to hecklers, not to the press or his teammates. So I think this is being waaaaay overblown.

Agreed

As are the comments here. I understand it’s Miami’s division rivals and all but you guys need to learn to let go of the hate. The Welker pass was catchable. I thought he threw the pass behind him purposely because if it was thrown normal he would’ve gotten leveled. Yea sure Brady blew some plays but when it counted he had the ball where it should’ve been and the passes were dropped. I’m not a fan of either of the teams so I couldn’t care less who won. She was just as frustrated as anybody would’ve been.

SAD

It’s sad when supermodels don’t get their wish. :-(
I’m thinking that Giselle does NOT have a lot of experience dealing with disappointment. Maybe the maturity level of a 6-year old when it comes to that.

You hit on a point that has really bugged me....

What happened to sportsmanship? I know this is the biggest stage and these guys take it insanely serious, but at some point ‘ya gotta step back and realize, hey, ’ya gave it your best and the better team won. It’s just a game.

The way Brady (and his wife) act it’s as if he doesn’t have multiple rings already. And I always thought it’s pretty cheesy how people will invoke the almighty into their truly frivolous sports endeavors. How ‘bout asking your friends to pray for peace, or the end to poverty, or something real? They just come across as ungrateful and greedy. Granted, she was responding to hecklers, but it didn’t show an ounce of class. Also, watching Brady pout around on the field…..couldn’t help but feel that he’s one sorry SOB that feels pretty damn entitled, and obviously his wife feels the same way…….

Bienvenidos a Miami Coach Philbin!

Not that I'm a Brady fan

or that I give a sh!t about his wife, but I don’t blame her. I don’t care how famous you are, if somebody follows you talking trash, most people have a limit before they lash out in defense, right or wrong. Everybody has their breaking point, some are higher than others, but we all have it.

It’s not like they were chanting GO G-MEN or GIANTS GIANTS GIANTS. They made it personal. Called out her name and talked trash about her husband. What do you expect as a result. Either she rushes away with her head down, or says something back.

Personally, I liked the response. Remember, taunting results in a flag on the field…
but there aren’t any refs once the games over.
