I do not pay for the insider, but did come across this link and apparently for now according to Shefty, it looks like he thinks we may be the favorites for Manning..

Umm...

According to ESPN (Adam Schefter included) we were the favorites to land Fisher a few days before he signed

Answer to the question. :)
Q: With the Super Bowl now over, talk this offseason will surely focus on Peyton Manning. Where do you think he will land? Any chance that he goes to Minnesota or San Francisco?

— Herbert (Iowa)

A: No, Herbert, Minnesota and San Francisco will not be in play. Remember, Manning will pick his team even more than it will pick him. Minnesota can’t offer as much as other teams, and San Francisco will not pursue Manning when it wants to re-sign Alex Smith. The team that is the favorite in my mind to land Manning is Miami. The Dolphins can offer warm weather and a favorable contract, and the team has been screaming for a franchise quarterback since Dan Marino left. Make Miami the favorite for now. But we’ve already seen what being a favorite meant to New England in this Super Bowl.

San Francisco makes the most sense...

They are a ready made team, that just needs a QB.

He already has a condo here ...

Manning likes South Florida, his wife likes South Florida… We may not have as many playmakers as San Francisco, but you could make a case with the talent we have we have less holes. And the fact is, he could easily win here, and he would get to face Brady 2x a year. If you don’t think he would love to face and beat Brady 2x a year, you really don’t know Manning… the guy is a competitor, and he has a score to settle there. Add in fat Rex Ryan and the Jets every year… The only thing that would make this a better landing spot from that standpoint would be adding the Colts back into the AFC East…

This might not be a factor, but do you think that Harbaugh holds a grudge against the QB that replaced him in Indianapolis?

We had [Brady] down… but we didn’t kick him. We helped him up and gave him a PowerPuff Girls band-aid for his knee. What exactly did you expect would happen when we did that?

Playmakers in SF?

I don’t think they have much more than we do (outside of Vernon Davis), if at all. They do have one of the best RB and TE in the NFL but their WR corps is weak (outside of Crabtree, who hasn’t been great so far).

If (and this is a BIG IF) we do get Manning

Even if its just for 2-4 years, I will get his jersey. He a top 5 QB of all time IMO, just saying.

Not to mention, its like “game on” with BB and Brady. You know if there is one QB out their that they don’t want in their division it’s a healthy Peyton. I know all the things about his arm strength and such, but there is so much more to Manning than that. His knowledge of the games is simply incredible. The way he can just dissect a defense I find fascinating, and is one of the reason I think he could actually play at a high level for a lot longer than any ordinary QB. Forget the Mike Sherman hire if Manning comes here. Manning will do his own thing.

Yeah I would get one as well

It would look great next to my Ricky Williams jersey

I don't think I will get one. It still stings that I wasted good money on my Culpepper jersey.

Eh

Manning is no Culpepper in any way of the imagination. Manning is a hands down 1st ballet HoFer, possibly one of the top 5 QBs to ever play the game. Culpepper is nowhere any where near that.

in my opinion what manning did with the colts and their players and how good he made them..

i honestly trully think that manning is the best qb of all time. I love dan marino, but there is no defense that was able to single handedly stop peyton. Not talking about a bad game here or there bc everyone has those, but I mean he is too smart and even against revis, i always said if you have a good enough qb it doesnt matter whose the cornerback bc their is no defense for a perfect throw. Manning made garbage players into guys that other teams now want. He covered up holes on that Indy team for a whole decade by himself. There was no qb smarter and able to keep a defense on their toes more than Peyton. I’m sorry, miami is my fav team of all time but i truly believe that Dan had a better arm and more of a natural gun slinger but Peyton was too smart for anyone to compete with. Watch how productive bess and Bmarsh will be if PM18 lands in South Beach…Pats and Jets will run and hide…does anyone remember how badly he torched us in the second game of the season, I think it was 08 or 09, when we controlled the ball for almost 40 mins and still lost…um yea thats what Peyton can do…don’t tell me that he lost it, bc 2 seasons ago he was still one of the best…if hes healthy and we get him, neither the Jets nor the Pats scare me

Get Manning and then

go get Blackmon in the 1st and then 2 Tackles and 2 Guards in the draft and maybe a FA safety and hopefully resign some of our FAs.
