The Miami Herald reports that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is "infatuated with the idea" of signing Peyton Manning.
According to the Herald's Barry Jackson, Ross is willing "to wait as long as necessary" for Manning after he's released by the Colts. Manning may not be ready to sign right away -- for medical or personal reasons -- but Ross will be there when he is. The Dolphins reportedly believe they have a "realistic chance" of landing Manning. Earlier this week, agent Tom Condon made it clear that Manning's $28 million March 8 bonus will not be pushed back, meaning a Dolphins deal could theoretically be in place before March 13.

Even if they manage to sign Manning, I hope they draft

a QB to develop once Manning is done. My preference would still be RG3, my second choice would be Ryan Tannehill.

They won't draft RGIII if we get Manning but someone to develop like Tannehill makes all the

sense in the world….Tannehill seems to have a lot of upside but is raw…who better to learn from for the next 3 years then Manning.
We can also address our line needs in the draft to further protect Manning.

I won't cry if the dude comes here, but.......

I’d rather develop our own guy, even if it’s Flynn. I feel Petyon’s salary would weaken our ability to keep the team strong. Then he’d be gone in three years or so and we’d have a depleted team…

Ross is acting like a rookie fan. Yeah, Peyton has been unbelievable throughout his career, but as the owner he needs to keep his eye on the future and other factors. If they can swing it so we have someone behind him ready to fill in once he steps down, then great, I’m on board……

Bienvenidos a Miami Coach Philbin!

I will take 3-4 playoff runs... if we wind up with a Super Bowl win ... that would be nice too...

That is long term enough for me…. If he doesn’t play well, he doesn’t get paid well. I don’t see the issue here… If we can find a better QB, go do that… if not… I will take short term winning. Its better than the alternative… right?

We had [Brady] down… but we didn’t kick him. We helped him up and gave him a PowerPuff Girls band-aid for his knee. What exactly did you expect would happen when we did that?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Peyton Manning is open to accepting a non-guaranteed contract when he hits free agency.
Manning is aware that he has the potential to be a burden on a team if his neck becomes problematic again. According to Schefter, Manning’s proposed deal would be “incentive laden,” and pricey only if he played well enough to trigger bonuses. This is a best case scenario for interested teams, and will make the Manning acquisition even more enticing once he hits the market.

that dude oozes class

Can we just wheel Shula onto the field at the start of ever game being pushed by one of the Miami Cheerleaders? Talk about mixing fear and distraction...

Infatuated with Manning....

An owner should NEVER dictate to a coach who to sign. This has the possibility of blowing up in Ross’s face, especially if the sign manning before he can throw. And what is Philbin’s thoughts on this?

well...

I'm sure he would be upset that they are trying to bring in a future hall of fame QB

He is ok with low base contract with big incentives. So if he doesn’t do well, he doesn’t get paid like a franchise QB. But if he takes us to the Super Bowl he gets paid like a franchise QB… I don’t see the problem with this.

Aren't these the same people that said it was a slam dunk thet Jeff Fisher was the next Dolphins coach?

Don’t put much stock in what the Miami media says. Ross, Ireland, and Philbin are playing it close to the vest.

March 13th?

If they don’t have a deal in place by March 9th I will be upset… It shouldn’t take too long with what he is asking… An incentive plan? How good do you want to be Ross?
