I would still rather us get RG3 than Flynn or Manning.
What happened to the RG3 bandwagon?
Anyone still agree with me?

I left after PhilPhin was hired

Then after Mike Sherman was brought in as Oc I finalized my choice #1 choice Flynn. #2 Manning and draft Tannehill

Although if we get Flynn, it's for a reason

Im sure Philbin knows Flynn’s potential, and if we get him, I trust Philbin

If we don’t, I trust that decision as well

Still aboard the RGIII train, no doubt.

Not a fan of the whole Matt Flynn deal

NO MORE BACKUPS!!

If somehow he falls to #5

i would have to go get him. Otherwise it may be too costly pick wise. I would be willing to give up this year and next year’s #1 pick for him.

no body say risky say costly

I Agree to Phintastic, trade up to #2 pick will be so expensive…

Manningis the onlyone out of the bunch

Flynn has an AJ Feely feeling to me.
Can anyone tell me the last running QB that has won a superbowl? Just not sold on RGIII either.
I do like Manning’s track record and think he will have something to prove after Indy lets him go. All this is if he is “healthy”. I also like having Moore back him up. Moore did show me something, unfortunately it’s not enough to be a superbowl starter.
If we cannot sign Manning then I just might roll with Moore and give him a training camp unlike last year. I know that will not happen though, the FO doesn’t want Moore to start along with most of the fans. I would bring in another Moore “Kellen” for a look see though, I do think he has potential.

Do we have to choose one or the other??

What have we decided to only needing one franchise QB? I keep watching the Brady 6 and wouldn’t it be great if we had a franchise QB backing up a franchise QB? Really, it is the most important position on the field and we are happy with just one? How did that work out for the Colts this year? I say, sign Peyton Manning, and move up and draft RG3 anyway. What else do we need on this team? Alot of other things can either be fixed with moving players(John Jerry to RT, Reshad Jones to SS), or free agency(another traditional TE, because I believe we already have a pass catching TE in Clay). A few moves in free agency are completely unneccessary, but would still be huge upgrades(Nicks to LG). A few other things will fix themselves when we let our young players develop(Misi at OLB, Sean Smith, Vontae Davis, and Chris Clemmons). If you think about it we were in most games and finished the season strong despite playing with a backup QB. If we can move up and get RG3 to backup Manning for a few years while he learns how to play in the NFL from on of the best ever, I think we are on the right track. If we can do it without trading all our picks we could possibly still hit on some late round gems.

We had [Brady] down… but we didn’t kick him. We helped him up and gave him a PowerPuff Girls band-aid for his knee. What exactly did you expect would happen when we did that?

by Jason Scott_90 on Feb 4, 2012 11:51 PM EST reply actions

Cost $$$

Getting both would be astronomical… If we don’t get Manning (or Flynn), go for RGIII. If we get either of the two, then be patient and try and get Barkley next year…

by Simple Buddha on Feb 6, 2012 12:24 PM EST up reply actions

It's not that simple...

1. We don’t know if we can get RGIII. We have no idea if we can outbid everyone to get him. And we won’t know if we can get him until after we would have passed on the other two options.

2. It’s not simply “which would you prefer?” The question is would you want:
a. Manning for $
b. Flynn for $
or
c. RGIII for $ (less, granted) AND at least two first round draft picks, a couple of second round drafts picks, etc.

Personally, I would rather have Manning and all those draft picks than a chance at maybe getting RGIII.

If it was Luck we were talking about, it would be a tougher decision for me. Or if we would have to give up draft picks for Manning or Flynn, then the discussion would be completely different.

RGIII

Unless the redskins sign Manning or Flynn, there is no way Miami will draft RGIII. And even if the redskins do, there is always the possiblity someone will trade up in front of Miami and grab RGIII. The cost of Miami doing that is just too high. I think you’ll see Miami sign Flynn, and then draft a QB in the mid to late rounds to groom.

if were goin to sell the farm for a guy, then go for Luck then you got something for the farm

why does everyone here think RG3 is the only choice here. RG3 reminds me of vick and how many SB’s has he taken his team to? Not saying hes not talented but theres a better choice if your going to sell the farm.

Why I don't think we should go after RG3

College spread quarterbacks usually don’t transition well to the nfl, because of one factor can he read a defense. Here’s something for you to dwell on what if he’s played in the spread offense since high school and has “very limited” coverage reading ability are you willing to sit him 3 to 4 years and teach him to read coverages and then let him play. Don’t mention if he bust out you can set yourself back close to a decade.

You can make a similar argument with Flynn or Manning

Manning: What if it turns out that the nerve damage in his shoulder didn’t heal properly and he became Daunte Culpepper 2.0. He would cost millions and millions to sign with us making it impossible to get other FA and setting us back for decades.
Flynn: What if we put all our eggs into his basket but it turns out that when other defense has plenty of film and preparation time for him, he can not produce.
With almost every draft pick and FA QB, there is always some sort of risk. Obviously there is going to be a potential for a bust in RG3, so I was wondering if anyone believes RG3 is worth the risk to take over Manning and Flynn.

by insainsiren on Feb 5, 2012 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

so you never want to draft a QB again?...

almost no big time college programs currently run a pro-style offense. So, when we eventually do draft someone, he will have to make the adjustment, there is no getting around that. RGIII is a guy I am willing to take a chance on due to his on field talents and his off the field personality.

Your logic is flawed

Usc runs pro style, washington, and many other schools do too

yes, like I just said, very few big-time programs run the prostyle

Only looking at QBs from those schools makes no sense. And I really wouldnt consider Washington or Stanford big-time programs. Without their respective QBs (Locker, and Luck) they are average programs. My logic is not flawed.

Why would I take an unproven rookie over Manning and Flynn

Manning is more than proven, its just an injury issue and I rather bet on an injured Peyton Manning than RGIII who has yet to play a down. Matt Flynn has at least proven he can throw the ball in the NFL and do it well against NFL defenses (not great ones, but better than any D RGIII faced in college), so why RGIII over either these guys?

by Fin Fan Forever on Feb 6, 2012 1:19 AM EST reply actions

For me last draft was the one to take a QB, a lot a future franchise QB was around, inclusive an under valuated Mallet

This draft, with the returns to school of Barkley and Landry… give only two first tier QB, and only one second tier QB, other QB need more development… maybe Weeden could have some success, but all other looks to be backup QB’s in NFL.

If Manning was really healthy will be a smash in any team he land, and Miami seems a QB plug and play ready to be a contender.

Flynn give these idea too, looks like to follow the path of new QB school of GB (I expect GB draft a 2-5 round QB and develop again behind Rogers) the only matter with Flynn was he too close with Rogers in age, an he need other team to show whats he learn in GB.

first tier QB’s: Luck, RGIII
second tier QB: Tannehill
