Free Agency- We have QB options in FA, but I dont like the idea of getting Peyton Manning or Matt Flynn. We should avoid these two, and use our FA cap-space to address DE, and RG, most likely Jared Gather, and Cliff Avril. Our positions of need are: QB, RT, RG, FS/CB (we could get a CB and move Sean Smith to FS), and DE/OLB, our positions of want are: TE, and WR. DE/OLB, and RG would be taken care of, so that leaves QB, RT, and FS/CB to address in the draft.
2012 NFL draft:
Round 1: Ryan Tannehill- we trade our 1st and 4th round picks for the Cincinnati Bengals 1st (17th overall from the Raiders), 2nd (21st of round), and 3rd round picks. I really like Ryan Tannehill's athleticism, I'm disappointed that he isn't throwing tomorrow, because I feel like he has a lot to prove, but Mike Sherman knows him well and knows what he can do.
Round 2a: Coby Fleener- Yes, we address a "want" in round two, but I like a CB that we can get in the 3rd round, and a RT that we can get later in the 2nd round, so a "want" it is. Coby Fleener has what Joe Philbin wants, explosiveness at the TE position, we also might get Orson Charles or Dwayne Allen here.
Round 2b: Zebrie Sanders- Due to a poor Senior Bowl performance, his stock dropped to our advantage where we could get a quality RT in the second half of the 2nd round.
Round 3a: Brandon Boykin- not only is this guy a great Corner, but he is also a very explosive kick returner, returning several kicks for 6 in his collegian career.
Round 3b: Tommy Streeter- this guy is a dynamic WR that is way below the radar due to his lack of starts in his career, but if we want a good, raw WR to groom, then he's our guy.
Round 5: Trenton Robinson- never a bad idea to add a guy in the secondary, gives us the option to play Boykin in nickle situations and keep Sean Smith at CB.
Round 7: Kellen Moore- I dont know why this guy is so low, he was the all-time winning-est QB in college football history, but we were looking for a quality 3rd string QB, so he may be our 7th round guy.
I know alot of you are probably betting on getting either Flynn, Manning, or RG3, but Matt Flynn has had two good starts against two crappy defenses, Manning would require us to change the offense we brought Philbin here to install, and RG3 would be just too expensive. Tannehill is the guy I beleive will succeed.
