Miami Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith injured his knee against the Buffalo Bills Sunday afternoon, missing the majority of the second half. Smith injured his left knee in the third quarter as he threw a block allowing safety Chris Clemons to recover a Buffalo fumble. He was unable to return to the game.
Smith is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage to his knee.
Smith could miss next week's game against the New England Patriots with the injury, and could be facing surgery and a long rehab depending on the severity of the injury. Smith is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and any lengthy rehab could scare teams away from the Dolphins' 2009 second round draft pick.
