The sports world awoke to shocking news this morning. A Kansas City Chiefs player has killed his girlfriend and himself today. Details are slowly coming out, but the player's name has yet to be officially released despite rumors on Twitter and one player's Wikipedia page already being updated.
Reports say the player killed his girlfriend at their home, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium. At the team's practice facility, some sort of confrontation with coaches took place before the player turned the gun on himself.
The Chiefs released the following statement about the incident;
We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.
The news is horrible, and all our thoughts and prayers are with the girlfriend and her family, as well as the player's family and the Kansas City Chiefs organization and fans.
