What can I say, there were smiles everywhere today. The weather couldn't have been better,.....80's & sunny with minimal wind. A great day for cycling and I rode it strong. However,....I am a bit tired and lets just get right to the pictures.
While training the other day I stopped by our camp. I haven't perfected the self photo with my Iphone yet.
Still perfect 40 years later !
It was dark when rolled up at 6AM.
The first person we ran into was Ralph from The Deep End.
He shoots all the video. I think I need to work on my on screen presence. Can't hardly wait to see what a boob I look like this morning.
I got a bad habit of putting the valve stem cap in my mouth when I fill my tires.
Nice look right ?? However, if you were referring to my new shows, throwback Zumba pants, and black on black Dolphins T,...........well, its not a nice look. IT'S KILLER !!!
Stripe was there front and center.
The Phin Addicts were my largest donor and since the day we met they have treated us like family. We're lucky to have such good friends.
Thing is Wifey didn't get any action shots as she filmed it ( I think,....I see some video, but haven't watched it yet). However, I took this at one of the rest stops,....
Now mind you that one of my all time favorite KISS songs is Firehouse.
I mention my Dolphin karma before. I'm in my KISS jersey and Dolphins Cheerleaders are sporting toy fire helmets !!?? Coincidence,....I think not !
These pics Wifey took at lunch stop,....
Let talk about the ride for a moment. 1st 15 miles was at slow pace (<15/16MPH) to rest stop at Sylvester. Then we were paced at 20MPH until we reached the rest stop were we where 70 miles into the ride. Once the stronger rides got the word from Mike Dee at that break it was on. Once we rolled out it was straight on the gas. I'm not sure how many started with us, but over that 30 miles we dropped a few of them. Every once in a while I'ld hear somebody call out to their buddy,...."I've had it,...see you at the finish". I'm not very experienced at all in group riding, much less a rotating double pace line. But I did well enough to not get dropped and I crossed the line 9th. I think there was 15 or 20 in that lead group. This is how I looked as I crossed the line. "V" for victory !!!!!!
After the ride I saw a couple old buddies,....
Nat Moore & Twan Russell both former players and current employees of the Miami Dolphins. twan was wanting to roll with the fast group but got a flat and that threw his whole day off. Fear not Twan,....I'm going to find you in the morning and we're going to hook up and burn rubber !
About 5 minutes after getting off the bike I got a short 15 minute massage,....
By two therapist !!!??? Now that is what I call VIP treatment !
Dig those shoes !!!
Tomorrow is a new day, but tonight M.M. is camping out under the stars.
The sign says it all. And I'm just $87 shy of the $5,000 milestone and looking for a hero. I know i've beaten this horse to death,.....however, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Thanks again to everybody, this has been an amazing journey !
