Dolphins Tight End Anthony Fasano Downgraded Before Seahawks Game

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

Miami Dolphins starting tight end Anthony Fasano has been downgraded to questionable ahead of today's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Fasano was listed as probable on the Friday injury report with a hip injury.

The Miami Dolphins, last night, downgraded starting tight end Anthony Fasano to questionable. Fasano was listed as probable with a hip injury on Friday's report ahead of the team's game against the Seattle Seahawks this afternoon.

If Fasano cannot play this afternoon, second year H-back Charles Clay will likely move into the starting position. Clay has seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown on the season, and offensive coordinator Mike Sherman has tried, in the past, to get Clay more involved in the offense.

Behind Clay, the Dolphins have blocking tight end Jeron Mastrud, rookie Michael Egnew, who has yet to be active for a game, and the recently added Kyle Miller. Mastrud has missed the last few games for the Dolphins has he recovered from his own injuries, while Miller joined the team this week after appearing in one game for the Indianapolis Colts. His addition led to the release of wide receiver Jabar Gaffney.

Fasano has 26 receptions for 200 yards this year, with a team high three touchdowns. His production over the past few weeks has slowed, as the Dolphins moved to more wide receiver focused passing, and used Fasano to block more.
