First time to post to the blog, but have been reading it for a long time. Just wanted to comment on how are expectations, or at least mine, have already been met this season... I knew coming in we were going to struggle, with a young QB, with limited experience and (sorry Devon and Brian) not much speed at the WR spots with weak TE's also.
I am not sure why people continue to bash the young QB, who except for one really bad miss to Clay for a potential TD, has continued to do the best he can with what he is limited with. I have been very let down with how terrible the offensive line has become. To me that is a schematic thing, with going from power football (what the personnel is built for) to a zone scheme. But our pass protection is not where it should be, which I think we need to look at the OL coach here.
Our running back position looks to be set, with or without Bush, although for the right price I'd love to have him back. I have also not been shocked with how poor our defensive backs (with the exception of Reshad Jones, who I think will be great) has played. Our front 7 may be near the top in the league (even with Dansby, who continues to not live up to the contract), while the back 4 we knew coming in were weak. Smith will be a solid #2 corner and Jones will be a good starter, but the others are special teams players forced into a tough spot.
We have also found several players to develop: This years draft class (other than the TE, who shall not be named) has several players in it. Loving Thigpin also. For the first time in I believe ahile we don't have to worry about QB, just let him grow and improve. Anyone see Luck suck it up last week? Or watch RGIII complete 2 TD's in triple coverage, because he has talented guys playing with him? Not sure I am sold on Ireland, but I have become a huge Philbin fan and Tannehill fan. The question is will we be patient and do things the right way...or continue to be some of the worst fans in the NFL? I hope the former.
