Dolphins trailing Bills 19-7 at Halftime, Adjustments Needed

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

The Miami Dolphins are once again looking flat to start a football game, this time taking a 19-7 deficit to the Buffalo Bills into the half. If the team is going to come back in the second half, they are going to have to make some major adjustments.

The Miami Dolphins are once again looking for answers, continuing the theme from the last two weeks. Miami is trailing the Buffalo Bills 19-7 at the half, and have only scored on a Marcus Thigpen kickoff return for a touchdown.

The Dolphins are simply too conservative on offense, and are being beat on defense. The team has returned to their bend, don't break schemes of the previous coaching regime, holding the Bills to four field goals despite driving down the field all night on Miami. The Bills only touchdown came from a punt return by Leodis McKelvin.

The Dolphins have two first downs so far in the game, with 20 plays gaining just 50 yards. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is 6-for-11 for 44 yards so far tonight. Daniel Thomas has carried the ball three times for 8 yards, while starting running back Reggie Bush has four carries for minus three yards.

The vaunted Dolphins defense is once again getting torched on the ground. After giving up 126 yards on the ground to Chris Johnson last week, Miami has allowed C.J. Spiller to rack up 60 yards on 12 carries already in this game.

The Dolphins have to make some major adjustments during the half if they are going to get back into this game.
