We break down the news of the Miami Dolphins release of wide receiver Anthony Armstrong
Word out of Miami is that the Dolphins have released wide receiver Anthony Armstrong. The Dolphins claimed Armstrong off waivers after the Washington Redskins released him in August. Armstrong had previously spent time on the Dolphins practice squad in 2008. In limited action, Armstrong had three receptions for 12 yards.
The move comes two days after Armstrong was inactive for the Dolphins 30-9 win over the New York Jets. Armstrong had been added for some veteran experience, but had not lived up to any expectations. The Dolphins added Jabar Gaffney recently and he jumped right in with his debut against the Jets. Gaffney got 11 snaps and could quickly establish himself as the team's No. 3 receiver behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess.
Marlon Moore will also continue competing for snaps. Moore finished the Jets game with 13 snaps. The Dolphins will continue looking to improve a still-growing pass offense.
