I also agree with the acquisition of Jabar Gaffney. I know that some people might say over the hill or question why we would want to get older at the position. Well to be honest, I don't see it as a hindering factor for the offense or RT for that matter. He needs to not feel like the receivers on the field won't give away passes. Gaffney isn't great but I don't think the front office is bringing him in to be the "NUMBER 1" receiver. It's more of a good addition especially for most likely being a cheap one year deal. (Not sure if that's the case but most likely will be.)
He has never truly been able to put up massive numbers but he has been consistent and actually surpassed all of his personal bests last year in catches,YPC, and first downs and also had 5 touchdowns. In Washington mind you. Even with his stats being fairly middle of the road, he is good at moving the chains with 50 of his 68 catches going for first downs. I know he isn't the answer, but he is a better option for Tannehill if he can just catch the ball in three wide sets. I think his age will be more of a factor to help him in the WCO than to hurt him. I still think we draft multiple wide outs in the draft and go after a true number one either on draft day or in the free agency, but I wouldn't mind having Gaffney as our number 4 on the depth chart for a year or two.
These are his numbers from last year.
Receptions Yards YPC TD FirstDowns

I feel like this was the best time to bring him in after working him out prior to the season. The team had concerns of a thigh injury and must have either, overlooked it because of bad play of Legedu or he is 100%. Either way he is a better proven number three option at this point in time. He will give some veteran experience to a fairly young receiving corp.
All in all I think the coaching staff knows when to cut it's losses with players that it thinks are not worth the roster spot, which actually makes me respect Philbin more. I also think it's fair to award them 10 Schrute bucks for cutting Nanee Nanee boo boo. (you are welcome for bringing you back to 1st grade).
