Dwayne Bowe , a Realistic Possibility?

As most of you know already by now, yesterday afternoon there were many rumblings all over twitter about the possibility of the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs talking about a potential trade that would see the phins acquire Bowe. This rumor was later squashed by Jason Cole himself (the one who apparently started the rumor) by saying:

"Just to clarify something: I'm NOT reporting the KC and Miami are talking trade over Bowe. Not yet, at least. Misunderstanding by someone"

At that point most dolphins fans had to let go of the image they had already ingrained in their heads of Dwayne Bowe catching a perfectly thrown end zone fade route pass from Ryan Tannehill. However this could be a blessing in disguise as Dwayne Bowe is a pending Free-Agent, which means his contract is up at the end of this season. At this point the dolphins would likely have to give up anything from a 3rd round pick and up. I have also read rumblings that the reason Bowe isn't being traded at this point is because the return price KC would want from him is far too high, anywhere from a 2nd round pick and up.

Now if you ask me that is ludicrous. Why trade a 3rd round pick, or potentially even a 2nd round pick for someone who is only guaranteed to be on your team for the remaining games this season. The price teams would have to pay in order to "rent" Bowe is far too high if you ask me. In my opinion Ireland should just wait until the off season and give it a shot then, when Bowe is a free-agent and allowed to negotiate with whomever he likes, rather than mortgage the future for an expensive puzzle piece that may not even work out. It has been reported many times that Bowe would love to return to his hometown and play for the dolphins, so we already have that advantage in our favor, if that doesn't work out then continue with your original plan of building through the draft, it helps that the Miami Dolphins have a 1st two 2nds and two 3rds in this April's NFL draft. Not to mention that the dolphins already have free-agents of their own they have to worry about; Jake Long, Reggie Bush, Sean Smith, Brian Hartline, Randy Starks, Anthony Fasano, Chris Clemons to name a few...

So, for those who are dreaming of Dwayne Bowe suiting up for the dolphins, or those fans who have already ordered their Bowe jersey's , not all hope is lost. There is still a possibility that the Dolphins could indeed trade for Bowe this season, and an even larger possibility of the Dolphins going after him this off-season when he becomes a free agent.
