Miami Dolphins rookie defensive end Olivier Vernon had to leave the game after spraining his ankle. He has returned to the game in the third quarter.
Miami Dolphins rookie defensive end Olivier Vernon has been developing into a solid player for the team, with his snap count going up each week as a result. However, on kickoff coverage i the second quarter, Vernon was helped off the field with an apparent ankle injury.
On the sidelines, Vernon's ankle was taped and he attempted to run along the bench area before having to go to the locker room. His return was questionable with a sprained ankle.
In the third quarter, Vernon returned to play on special teams despite the ankle injury. He had not returned to defensive play as the third period wound down.
