PrintOur look at the 2011 Miami Dolphins, and specifically players worthy of individual recognition. Last night, we started with the Rookie of the Year vote. Tonight, we move on to the Dolphins' Breakout Player of the Year. The nominees:
Matt Moore, Quarterback
Reggie Bush, Running Back
Jared Odrick, Defensive End
Jimmy Wilson, Cornerback
Brandon Fields, Punter.
Vote below. The ballot will remain open until Midnight on Monday. Remember, the Rookie of the Year Poll closes at midnight tomorrow. Don't forget to vote for that one too.

gotta give edge to bush
but i think moore had a very good year,i dont think we are in such dire straights when it comes to our qb situation,

Bush, and it's not close.
Even though it took him a while, he established that he has the ability to become a go-to running back in this league. Given the injuries to Daniel Thomas, Bush was key to our mid-season turnaround.
Matt Moore is still Matt Moore.
Everyone else did relatively well, but did not make as big of an impression on me as Reggie.
....and I think Tony Sparano should be fired.

but everybody on the list, had a strong case. just hoping we find a good pass rusher to replace taylor.
I am torn between two options, but I would say that there was one on offense and defense
Odrick was a first round pick, but so was Reggie. Both of them had lived up to or beyond expactations.
1000 yards and becoming an every down back, or as close to it as Miami would allow is a huge improvement and above what we were expecting. Not to mention the leadership he had shown.
However, on the defensive side of the ball, no one was expecting this injury riddled defensive end to do as much as he did. 5 sacks for a 3-4 de is a feat all in itself, but in the end, he prooved that while this is a job, they could have fun too with his pee wee herman sack dance.
So yeah, i can only choose one, but i am torn, so i wont take the poll only acknowledge the accomplishment here.

I voted Bush
But I was most impressed with Clay. Regardless of him being a rook….I still thought he was the most impressive player. Just the things he was able to do when utilized…

Close call, but went with Odrick over Bush
The difference being that, while Reggie had a personal best in yards this year (1382 combined rushing and receiving), he’s come close before (1307 combined in his rookie year). He’s also had more than this year’s 7 combined rushing and receiving TDs twice in his career (8 in 2006 and 2009). So, while he did break out somewhat, it’s not that drastic of a breakout.
Odrick, meanwhile, went from never having played a regular season game to being a starting-quality DE. Much bigger leap than Reggie.

Actually Reggie Bush was lower than my expectations, I was expecting 1500 combined yards and 10 combined TD’s. So my vote went to Odrick as well, he did very well in what was really his rookie season.
You guys are tripping. Bush was only limited in the first 5 games due to the horrible way the coaches were using him (by not using him). Yeah Bush came close to this “total” yardage this season but it was mostly receiving. He broke out of the box people were putting him in which was the scatback/third-down-back role. He doubled his best rushing year. I think if he was used in the redzone more in the beginning we would’ve seen 10+ TDs but that’s what we’ll see next year. But the more I think about it, maybe you guys are giving him probs and expect to see more so I guess I can see your point now. He can do so much more. Hopefully, next season they use him as such.

Tough choices...
You have to rule out Fields and Wilson. Fields has been good for a while and Wilson made a few plays, but never really “broke out”. Odrick is a good choice, but he was a 1st round pick and missed all of last season. He did get 6 sacks playing in a rotation, even playing as a DE in a 4 man front.
But it really comes down to Bush and Moore. Bush was considered a bust, but proved this year he could be a feature back and really played well late in the season. Moore started out as the backup, played rough in his first few starts, but really played well late in the season.
It really should be a tie between Moore and Bush. But if I was forced to choose, I’d choose Moore. I thought before the season that Bush would get about 1500 total yards and he was very close. I somewhat expected Bush to be a playmaker and he proved to be just that. Moore’s play came out of nowhere. He was the backup no one wanted and when he stepped in, we were all but assured of winning the Luck sweepstakes. Yet Moore rallied the team to 6 wins when all hope was thought to be lost. He wasn’t perfect, but he made some huge plays that most thought he was incapable of making. IMO, Moore was more of a surprise than Bush was.

Gotta go with Bush
All the talk about in between the tackle ineffectiveness, injury waiting to happen, new team, and really no TC, instead of bowing out, Bush rose up to the challenge and was the major vocal leader during the 0-7 stretch.
Get the best man to clear every hurdle that stand in the Dolphins way, go RG3.

Moore was my pick… He rallied our team and showed us what hes capable of. He connected on deep balls with just about all of our recievers when henne couldnt.

Bush...
He finally lived up to his promise this season…Moore stepped up, no doubt…but I give it to Bush. However, it’s even nicer to see we have some decent choices for this award this season!

I went with Moore, as well.
Bush played great but it wasn’t a break out. It look as such mostly because of how the top of the season went.
I never got a prize for doing what was expected of me.
I was impressed with everything Reggie Bush did this year
to on the field performance to his attitude to his positve work ethic.
He gets my vote.
I'm ALL- IN. Do whatever it takes to get Andrew Luck or RGIII to Miami in 2012.

bush had a great year…especially when you consider how many changing offensive lines he had to run behind…nice job reggie
Gotta go with Odrick. Went from a total bust to the best DL on a team that is deep in that category.
Odrick was unstoppable at times this year and made plenty of big time sacks (for an interior lineman).
Bush went from a great receiving back to an all purpose back, imo, that is not as big of a leap as Odrick made.

He went from IR in his first year to playing this year.. The only leap he made was onto the active roster

I’ve been a fan of his since his college days but I wasn’t sure what kind of season he would have in Miami, was more than pleased with how his season turned out!!
